Esmail Qaani, IRGC QF deputy, who is believed to be directing the IRGC QF's activities in Afghanistan. Qaani's operational battlefield experience, network within the IRGC, and long acquaintance with Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei qualify him for such an appointment.
