(New York Times) James Bennett - Sheik Ahmed Yassin, the spiritual leader and founder of the militant Palestinian group Hamas, was killed Monday by an Israeli missile in Gaza City. Hamas is officially committed to Israel's destruction, not only a withdrawal from the territories.
