Bush Presses Syria to Leave Lebanon Soon

(New York Times) Richard W. Stevenson - President Bush stepped up American pressure on Syria on Tuesday to withdraw from Lebanon and warned authoritarian governments throughout the Middle East that they stand before a powerful, fast-moving wave of democracy. Bush said the U.S. would stand by the Lebanese people and all those who work to end tyranny. "By now it should be clear that authoritarian rule is not the wave of the future - it is the last gasp of a discredited past," he said.
