Mideast Envoy James Wolfensohn to Resign

(AP/Washington Post) International Mideast envoy James Wolfensohn, a former president of the World Bank who has been serving as an envoy for the Quartet since last June, plans to step down when his term ends at the end of the month. Wolfensohn's efforts focused on rebuilding the Gaza Strip after Israel's withdrawal last year. Diplomatic officials said he had decided not to continue in the wake of the establishment of the new Hamas-led Palestinian government.
