Bush: Hamas Must Alter Stance on Israel to Be "Partner in Peace"

(Washington Post) William Branigin - President Bush Thursday said elections in the Palestinian territories delivered a needed "wakeup call to the leadership" there, but he warned, "I don't see how you can be a partner in peace if you advocate the destruction of a country as part of your platform." "And I know you can't be a partner in peace...if your party has got an armed wing." The U.S. and Israel regard Hamas as a terrorist organization and have refused to deal with it.
