Israel Plans to Expand Ground Operations in Lebanon

[Ynet News] Ronny Sofer - Israel is expected to boost its military ground efforts in the next few days in a bid to emerge from the war in Lebanon with a significant achievement before a complete cease-fire is imposed, a senior security-political source in Jerusalem said Sunday. "Once the [48-hour] break in aerial strikes is over, we will return to a full operation in Lebanon," he added. The widespread belief among the 12 members of the security-diplomatic cabinet is that the fighting should not be stopped at this stage. However, the political leadership knows that the rope given to Israel by the U.S., with the silent support of many of the world's states, is getting shorter as a result of the tragic strike in the village of Qana.
