Leader of Pakistani Taliban Thought Dead after U.S. Strikes

(Washington Post) Pamela Constable and Haq Nawaz Khan - U.S. and Pakistani officials said Sunday that they were growing increasingly confident that the leader of the Pakistani Taliban, Hakimullah Mehsud, had died after being wounded in a U.S. missile strike. "While I can't confirm reports of Hakimullah's demise, here's to hoping they're true," said a senior U.S. official. "This is one of the worst people on the planet." The group's original leader, Baitullah Mehsud, was killed in a U.S. drone missile attack in August.
