Abbas Spurns U.S. Effort to Revive Mideast Talks

(AP/Ynet News) Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas on Tuesday spurned a new U.S. effort to revive Mideast peace talks, saying he will not resume negotiations unless Israel freezes settlement construction. Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu has agreed to a 10-month moratorium on new construction in the West Bank, while continuing to build in Jerusalem. Aides to Netanyahu have said he will not agree to divide Jerusalem.
