Baldor - Targeted by drone strikes in Pakistan, al-Qaeda is losing ground and financing, even as attacks by Islamist groups increased by 15-20% this year, according to a new report by the Washington-based American Security Project. "There is a larger number of Islamic groups using violence to push their own agenda," said Bernard Finel, a senior fellow with the American Security Project. Armed drones in clandestine attacks by the CIA have killed at least 11 of the top 20 al-Qaeda targets on a U.S. list and four others who were added to an updated list, according to the report.
