Israel Urges Gaza Aid Efforts Not Break Hamas Boycott

[Reuters] Israel urged world leaders on Thursday to provide aid to Gaza without breaking a diplomatic boycott of Hamas Islamists. "There is a need to help in Gaza without granting legitimacy to Hamas," Israeli Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni said after talks with visiting U.S. Middle East envoy George Mitchell. The U.S., Israel, and EU have shunned dialogue with Hamas, citing its refusal to renounce violence and to recognize Israel and past peace agreements.
