[Jerusalem Post] Yaakov Katz - The first of three Airborne Warning and Control System (AWACS) planes purchased from the U.S. by the IDF arrived in Israel Tuesday. Israel Air Force Commander Maj.-Gen. Eliezer Shkedy said the plane was an essential operational tool that would be utilized to create aerial pictures deep inside enemy territory while at the same time serving as a warning system for incoming aerial threats.
