Syrian, Israeli Diplomats Meet in Paris
(New York Times) Euan Ward - Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad al-Shaibani and Israeli Strategic Affairs Minister Ron Dermer met in Paris on Tuesday for U.S.-mediated talks in an attempt to reset decades of hostility between the two countries. The discussions focused on de-escalation following deadly clashes last month between Syrian government forces and the Druze minority in the southern province of Sweida that left more than 1,600 people dead. Israel and Syria have technically been at war since 1948.
