Arab Israelis Are Joining the IDF in Growing Numbers
(NBC News) Paul Goldman - Sgt. Yossef Saluta, 20, a Muslim Arab, is among dozens of Arab Israelis who serve in the Israeli military. "This is my country and it's my duty to protect its borders," he said. Most believe the army opens doors in Israel, according to Col. Wagdi Sarhan, head of the minorities unit in the Israel Defense Forces. "The army is a great platform to strengthen the bond between the Arab population and Israeli society," Sarhan added.
