1,000 Palestinians Are Digging Tunnels in Gaza

(Jerusalem Post) Hamas employs more than 1,000 operatives to excavate underground tunnels in Gaza, Israel Radio reported Thursday. Hamas invests hundreds of thousands of dollars each month in the digging activities, paying each operative $300-400 a month. Several members of Hamas' Nukhbah unit, trained for offensive incursions into Israel through the tunnels, have been killed in recent months in tunnel collapses.
