(Jerusalem Post) - Former White House aide Oliver North had close ties with Amiram Nir, counterterrorism adviser to prime minister Shimon Peres, who was killed in a mysterious plane crash over southwestern Mexico on December 1, 1988. North was deputy director of counterintelligence for the US National Security Council in the Reagan administration and Nir was North's main Israeli contact.
