Egypt Warned US of September 11th, Mubarak Asserts
(New York Times) - Egyptian intelligence warned American officials about a week before Sept. 11 that Osama bin Laden's network was in the advance stages of executing a significant operation against an American target, President Hosni Mubarak said in an interview on Sunday. Mubarak cited the warning as evidence that Egypt has become an increasingly valuable intelligence partner to the United States in the war against terrorism. Regarding a Palestinian state, he proposed: "I think to declare a state just theoretically like this and then to sit and negotiate what would be the border, what about Jerusalem, I think it may work.
