Bush Condemns Assassination of Lebanese Anti-Syrian Lawmaker
[AP/Guardian-UK] Bassem Mroue - A bomb ripped through the car of vocal anti-Syrian lawmaker Walid Eido in Beirut on Wednesday, killing him and nine other people in the latest assassination of a Lebanese opponent of Damascus. President Bush condemned the bombing and pledged "the United States will continue to stand up for Lebanon, its people, and its legitimate government as they face these attacks.'' Bush said efforts by both Syria and Iran "to foment instability in Lebanon must stop now.''
