Iran-Backed Shi'ite Militias Inducted into Iraq's Security Forces

(Reuters) Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi issued a decree on Thursday formalizing the inclusion into Iraq's security forces of more than 60,000 fighters from the Shi'ite Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF), which are mostly backed and trained by Iran. Paramilitary members will be given salaries equivalent to those in the military and will gain access to military institutes and colleges.
