Deputy Foreign Minister Hotovely Apologizes for Comments about American Jewry

(Jerusalem Post) Herb Keinon - Israeli Deputy Foreign Minister Tzipi Hotovely apologized Thursday for comments she made Wednesday on i24 News that were deemed disparaging of American Jewry. She said the point she was trying to make was that "the realities of life in Israel and in the U.S. are very different." "American Jewry is very important to me," she said in a filmed statement. "The connection, the dialogue like that between siblings in a family, is the most important thing. It is permissible to criticize, permissible to express pain, but it is important to remember that there is only one state for the Jewish people and that is Israel, and it has a commitment to all the Jews of the world."
