(Washington Post) Louisa Loveluck - Syrian government forces said Thursday they have recaptured the Islamic State's border stronghold of Bukamal in eastern Syria, leaving the militants with only a few enclaves along the Euphrates River. Despite Islamic State's promise to fight to the last man, the group withdrew from its former Syrian bases without a major fight.
