The U.S. administration's drive to promote the political process between Israel and the Palestinians marks the first opportunity in many years for a different, more realistic process. Even if it is not currently possible to reach a final status agreement, there is a greater chance than in the past to implement interim arrangements. This might improve the reality on the ground and create an environment more conducive to reaching a final status agreement in the future. Maj. Gen. (ret.)
