Putting the U.S.-Israel Relationship to Work

(American Interest) Steven L. Spiegel - The U.S. and Israel are now reaching a new stage in their relationship: one in which they are bound by common interests in economic and technological innovation. The wide range of fields in which the two countries can cooperate include water management, medicine, pharmaceuticals, green technology, nanotechnology, cyber security, military instruments, and communications. Partnering with Israel on the development of new technologies would reinforce the U.S. position at the top of the international economic pecking order. The writer is the director of the Center for Middle East Development and a professor of political science at UCLA.
