NBA Star Stoudemire Now Living in Jerusalem

(Sports Illustrated) Jon Wertheim - Six-time NBA All-Star Amar'e Stoudemire lives a few blocks from the prime minister's residence in Jerusalem. Stoudemire announced last summer that he would be leaving the NBA to close out his gilded career in Israel, where he'd long felt a spiritual connection, playing for Hapoel Jerusalem. He made a commitment to stay for at least two years. In Jerusalem, Stoudemire says, "I've never felt more at home, more tied to a place where I'm playing." He's happy to gently point out that so many myths about Israel are just that. "People say 'Is it a war zone?' and I tell them that couldn't be further from the truth," Stoudemire says. "On the Sabbath it's so quiet. Everything shuts down for rest, for family time. How nice is that?"
