(AP/Washington Post) Ali Hassan al-Majid, dubbed "Chemical Ali" for ordering a 1988 poison gas attack that killed thousands of Kurds, was found dead Monday by British troops in Basra, apparently killed on Saturday when coalition aircraft attacked his house. Saddam had entrusted al-Majid with the defense of southern Iraq.
