Five Christian Churches Bombed in Iraq

(Cox/Washington Times) Predawn explosions Saturday ripped through five empty Christian churches in Baghdad, the day after the beginning of the Muslim holy month of Ramadan. "They want us to leave Iraq; that is the message," said Odet Abdul, 48, who attends one of the churches. The Catholic Church of St. George was left a shell, barely standing, and a fire had consumed the carpets, pews, and icons.
