Three Czechs Recognized as Righteous Among the Nations

(Radio Prague-Czech Republic) Ruth Frankova - Three Czechs who risked their lives to save nine members of a Jewish family from the Holocaust have been recognized in memoriam as Righteous Among the Nations by the Yad Vashem Holocaust memorial in Jerusalem. Bohuslav, Olga and Evzenie Cepek were Volhynia Czechs, living on the territory of today's Ukraine. In 1943, the Gerstein family appeared at their farm, begging for shelter, at a time when any help to the Jews meant instant death for anyone who provided it. Together with another farmer, Mr. Cepek provided the family with shelter for 10 long months.
